Jadon Sancho was delighted to weigh in with two goals in what he said was a “special moment” for Borussia Dortmund as they beat RB Leipzig to win the DFB Cup.
bundesliga.com rounds up the best of the reaction after Dortmund’s 4-1 final win in Berlin on Thursday.
Jadon Sancho (Dortmund winger): “I’m feeling great. Today was a special moment for all of us. When that final whistle blew I just couldn’t believe it. I’m happy to score goals for the team and contribute. Games like this I always want to be involved - on the big stages.”
Sancho on Erling Haaland, who also scored twice: “He knew today it was a big day for all of us. He stepped up as he should as a leader.”
Haaland (Dortmund striker): “I’m proud to win my first title [in Germany] and it feels good.”
Lukasz Piszczek (Dortmund right-back): "I always said I wanted to end my career here with a trophy. Today we did it and I'm very proud.... I couldn't have imagined this in my wildest dreams."
Marco Reus (Dortmund captain): “We were a bit lucky in the second half but I think we deserved it overall because in the first half we played very, very well.”
Edin Terzic (Dortmund interim coach and lifelong club fan): “It’s not me who won the cup. It’s us as a club. All the employees worked hard for this, to get out of our bad spell that we had during the season.”
Julian Nagelsmann (Leipzig coach): "Dortmund had three chances [in the first half] and scored three goals - they made a lot out of very little. After the break we played with a lot of character."
Yussuf Poulsen (Leipzig striker): "Dortmund deserved to win today because they were more effective than we were in both boxes.”
