Bayern Munich and Germany superstar Jamal Musiala says his comeback from a serious leg and ankle break sustained at the summer's FIFA Club World Cup is going "according to plan," the 22-year-old adding that he now no longer needs the use of crutches.
In quotes appearing in Sport Bild, Musiala - who suffered the injury setback in Bayern's quarter-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on 5 July - said, "My foot is fine, the healing process is going according to plan. I no longer need crutches."
The news will give a huge lift to fans of the player, who are eager to see Bayern's No.10 back in action as soon as possible. When exactly that will be remains to be seen but the supremely-talented attacking-midfielder is eager to get game time before the year is out.
"I'm taking my time," Musiala said. "I don't want to specify a date, but given the progress I've made so far, I'd say I want to be playing competitive matches with FC Bayern in 2025," the five-time Bundesliga champion continued.
The reigning German top-flight title holders have started the 2025/26 season with four wins in all competitions but with a busy campaign ahead on the domestic and European fronts, will be keen to have one of their major stars back in the fold.
Watch: a touch of Musiala magic
Germany, too, have been keeping track on Musiala, especially with a FIFA World Cup on the horizon next summer. National team coach Julian Nagelsmann paid a visit to the player to offer words of encouragement during the Stuttgart native's recovery process.
"It won't help if I'm constantly down about this situation," Musiala said of his injury plight. "When I step back onto the pitch, I want to be ready; it's better if I come back in top form."
The time to when Musiala is back out on the pitch thrilling the watching world is edging ever closer.
