Germany international Jonas Hofmann has joined Bayer Leverkusen from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The attacking midfielder, who turns 31 on 14 July, has agreed to a four-year contract with Xabi Alonso's team, keeping him at the Werkself until 2027.
"I'm very grateful to Borussia for the past seven years. I had an outstanding time there," Hofmann told his new team's website.
"Recently, however, I had the feeling that I wanted to do something new. Bayer 04 fits these thoughts, the club has been one of the top German clubs for years and is also always ambitious internationally. The team is exciting and has an incredible amount of quality. I'm really keen on this next chapter."
Hofmann came through the youth ranks at Hoffenheim before joining Borussia Dortmund at the age of 19. However, after struggling to nail down a regular starting berth at BVB, he had a succesful loan spell at Mainz in 2014/15, eventually moving to Gladbach in January 2016.
His star rose during his time at the Foals, and he earned a maiden senior Germany cap in October 2020, while he remains a key member of Hansi Flick's squad. Last season Hofmann was among the Bundesliga's most dangerous attackers, contributing 12 Bundesliga goals and nine assists.

"We have been looking at Jonas for some time and are happy that he has decided to join Bayer 04," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes. "Thanks to his game overview, his excellent technical skills as well as his experience, he is the type of player we were looking for in our squad."
Hofmann becomes Leverkusen's third major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Arthur and Alejandro Grimaldo, and will link up with his new team-mates when the club begin pre-season preparations on Monday 10 July.
