Julian Nagelsmann has named his 26-man squad for June’s UEFA Nations League finals, including recalls for the likes of Marc-André ter Stegen, Serge Gnabry and Niclas Füllkrug, while Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rüdiger are among those who miss out.

The Bundestrainer has had to deal with a number of recent injuries to key players, with Bayern Munich's Musiala and Rüdiger of Real Madrid not fit enough to make the cut after respective hamstring and knee injuries.

Fellow centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck and first-choice striker Tim Kleindienst also suffered season-ending injuries in the latter weeks of the Bundesliga campaign for Borussia Dortmund and Mönchengladbach

Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen has been included, however, after recently returning to action following a cruciate ligament injury. He’ll provide competition to Oliver Baumann for the No.1 jersey.

Those absences have opened the door for returns for Gnabry, Füllkrug and Waldemar Anton, as well as a first senior call-up for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. The 23-year-old has also been named in Germany’s squad for the UEFA U21 Euros but will first get his chance with the senior side before joining up with Antonio Di Salvo’s group for their tournament in Slovakia, starting 11 June.

Tom Bischof is another new face. The 19-year-old Hoffenheim midfielder, who is joining Bayern this summer, hasn’t been capped above U20 level but will now get his chance on the big stage after an impressive campaign for his club.

The ankle injury Angelo Stiller suffered in Stuttgart's DFB Cup final win meant a place for Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt, yet the 24-year-old was subsequently forced to drop out alongside his club-mate Nadiem Amiri after both picked up injuries while training. Inter Milan's injured Yann Bisseck, meanwhile, was replaced by Thilo Kehrer.

Nagelsmann’s men play Portugal in their Nations League semi-final on 4 June in Munich, with Germany earning the right to host the finals tournament.

Defending champions Spain take on France in the other semi in Stuttgart the following night.

The MHP Arena will play host to the third-place play-off between the two losers in the afternoon of 8 June, with the final at the Allianz Arena later that evening to determine the fourth winner of the Nations League.
