Nagelsmann's Guardiola-inspired innovations at Leipzig
RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann has been inspired by former Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola to innovate his new club’s way of working.
After watching English Premier League side Manchester City’s “All or Nothing” documentary on Amazon – the Bundesliga equivalent of which will feature Borussia Dortmund, available to watch on 9 August – Nagelsmann’s futuristic mind has been motivated to bring the latest ideas to Leipzig.
The first of his changes: a new video analysis room at the training centre in the style of a cinema with a large screen, video projector and seats for all the players. It’s designed in the form of a university lecture hall and can be used for full squad meetings.
The second: a change of shape for the dressing room at the Red Bull Arena. Moving on from the old school style of a square-shaped room, Leipzig players will now sit in an oval-shaped area, providing the coach with the ability to speak to each of his players more easily.

The 31-year-old tactician was a keen innovator at his former club Hoffenheim. One of his most impressive ideas was the Videowall – a 6x3 metre screen on the halfway line of the training pitch controlled by the coach - to advance the way his side could train.
Leipzig’s first-team will be back in training on 5 July to begin preparations ahead of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season. Nagelsmann’s side kick-off the new campaign in style with an away trip to Bundesliga first-timers Union Berlin on the opening weekend.
