Kevin Trapp made almost 400 competitive appearances across two separate stints with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kevin Trapp’s hugely successful spell with Eintracht Frankfurt has come to an end after the Germany international goalkeeper completed a move to newly promoted Ligue 1 club Paris FC.

One of the heroes of the Eagles’ UEFA Europa League triumph in 2022, Trapp made 383 competitive appearances across two separate stints with Eintracht, keeping 89 clean sheets.

"It’s hard for me to find the right words today because I’m feeling a mixture of two emotions: excitement and sadness," said Trapp in a club statement. "I’m looking forward to a new chapter, but at the same time I’m sad to be saying goodbye to Eintracht. I was, I am, and I will always be an Eagle."

The 35-year-old played 36 games in all competitions last season as Frankfurt clinched third place in the Bundesliga – their highest finish since 1993 – and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League, only losing out to eventual winners Tottenham Hotspur.

After making his senior debut at Kaiserslautern in 2008, Trapp joined Frankfurt for the first time in 2012 and helped Die Adler back into Europe after a seven-year absence, courtesy of a sixth-placed Bundesliga finish.

He first left Eintracht for the French capital three years later, but despite collecting an array of silverware in his first two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, Trapp fell out of favour under head coach Unai Emery in 2017/18, setting the wheels in motion for a return to the Eagles - initially on a season-long loan before making the switch permanent in 2019.

Frankfurt have gone from strength to strength since his his move back to Deutsche Bank Park, qualifying for Europe in all but one of the past seven seasons and regularly reaching the latter stages of domestic and European cup competitions.

After a memorable run to the Europa League semi-finals in 2018/19, Trapp helped deliver one of the greatest nights in Eintracht’s history in May 2022, saving Aaron Ramsey’s penalty in the shoot-out as the Eagles beat Rangers on spot-kicks to lift the Europa League for the second time.

Trapp lifts the UEFA Europa League trophy following their team's victory over Glasgow Rangers in May 2022.

Part of Eintracht’s starting XI in their 2023 DFB Cup final defeat to RB Leipzig, Trapp was made club captain following the departure of midfielder Sebastian Rode in summer 2024, going on to keep seven clean sheets in 26 league appearances as Frankfurt qualified for the Champions League via the German top flight for the first time.

Trapp has only won nine caps for Germany since making his senior international debut in 2017 but has regularly been part of his country's set-up, making the squad for both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, as well as UEFA Euro 2020.
