Lazio 1-0 Bayern Munich
Goals: 1-0 Immobile pen. 69'
Sent off: Upamecano 68'
Beaten 3-0 by Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, Bayern set out to make amends in Rome as Joshua Kimmich flashed an early effort wide. Harry Kane could do no better after meeting a Thomas Müller cross, before Lazio began to threaten at the other end. Alessio Romagnoli headed straight at Manuel Neuer, while Luis Alberto fizzed a long-range strike narrowly wide. Leroy Sané and Gustav Isaksen exchanged shots from outside the area that failed to find the target as the first half ended all square.
Neuer made a crucial block to thwart Isaken soon after the restart. Jamal Musiala then directed a close-range strike from Noussair Mazraoui's teasing cross wide. Kane powered a header over as Bayern tried to steal a first-leg advantage, but they were left with it all to do when Upamecano was sent off for a 66th-minute lunge on Isaksen. Former Borussia Dortmund striker Immobile sent Neuer the wrong way from the resultant penalty to leave Bayern needing a win at the Allianz Arena on 5 March, if they're to reach the quarter-finals.
