Germany international Leroy Sané has signed for Galatasaray, but will still be available to play for Bayern Munich at the FIFA Club World Cup until his existing deal expires on 30 June.
After Sané shared via his X account (formerly Twitter) that he is leaving the club, Bayern confirmed his move to Galatasaray on a three-year contract, beginning 1 July, meaning the 29-year-old forward can still represent the record champions in their three Club World Cup group games and potentially the round of 16.
"If the player has another offer and accepts it, that's completely normal," Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl told media on Thursday. "It's legitimate, and the fact that there is no resentment is also shown by the joint decision that he will still be with us for the group games and the possible round of 16 at the Club World Cup."
Sané, who came through at Schalke and has also played for Manchester City, has made 220 competitive appearances for Bayern, registering 51 goals and 47 assists. He is a four-time Bundesliga winner and helped the Bavarians lift the 2020 Club World Cup, as well as the 2020/21 UEFA Super Cup and two German Supercups.
