Manuel Neuer has undergone knee surgery and will be unavailable for the coming weeks, Bayern Munich announced on Sunday.
The Bayern and Germany captain had an operation on his right knee the day after helping the Bavarians beat RB Leipzig with the most saves (five) he has had to make in a single Bundesliga fixture this season.
"All of us at the club and the whole team wish Manuel a good and speedy recovery, and we're sure he will soon be back to top fitness with us," said Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on the Bavarian club's website.
Saturday's win over Leipzig saw Neuer move level with Oliver Kahn on 310 Bundesliga wins - a Bundesliga record.
The 35-year-old has missed only one game all season for the record champions - their 2-1 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach at the start of 2022. He now stands to miss the trip to Bochum on Matchday 22 as well as the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie with Red Bull Salzburg.
It is not clear whether he will be back in time to face Greuther Fürth on Matchday 23, or if he could face a longer lay-off.
