Marcel Sabitzer's dream came true this summer when he joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig, and now the Austrian midfielder is looking to make his debut for his new side against his former teammates.
Sabitzer signed a four-year contract just days before the end of the summer transfer window, with Bayern bolstering their midfield and, in turn, their attempt at a 10th successive Bundesliga title defence.
For the 27-year-old it's a dream come true, and he is looking to make an impact from the start in whatever position needed and even if he must do from the bench, to begin with.
"It was always a dream to come to Bayern and I am very happy to be here now," said Sabitzer at a press conference on Thursday. "The situation has changed for me. At RB I was a starter and captain. I'm now a challenger at Bayern, I'm well aware of that. There are players in my position with a lot of quality. I will give everything to get my spot here.
"If I had to choose a preferred position, it would be left central midfielder. On one hand, to work off the ball, but also to be creative on the ball."
Sabitzer is looking to make a long-term impact on the success at Bayern. He has joined the club alongside head coach Julian Nagelsmann and defender Dayot Upamecano - who both also signed up from Leipzig - as Bayern embark on a new era under their talented young coach.

Sabitzer will be competing with the likes of Thomas Müller, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich for time on the Allianz Arena pitch under Nagelsmann. But the Austria international can help make an immediate impact as he and Bayern face Leipzig on Matchday 4 this coming Saturday, in what would be Sabitzer's debut for the club.
With Bayern's Germany internationals returning from duty late on Thursday, Sabitzer could be involved from the start. And, having begun the season at the Red Bull Arena, the midfielder could have some insights to give his side the edge as he returns to his former stomping ground.
"I was there for four weeks in pre-season and I have some insider information," Sabitzer said. "I spoke with the analysts and the assistant coaches. We will be well prepared on Saturday."
