Max Kruse joins Union Berlin

The 32-year-old left Bremen for Turkish side Fenerbahce at the end of the 2018/19 season, scoring seven goals in 20 Süper Lig appearances.

"I'm happy to be playing in the Bundesliga again and to get to know a cool new club like Union, who have developed really well in recent years," said Kruse. "It was important for me to switch to a club that completely convinces and challenges me. During the conversations with those responsible at Union I immediately felt comfortable, that's why I decided to join Union."

Kruse is a familiar face in the Bundesliga, having scored 74 times in 250 top-flight outings following spells at Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Bremen.

His experience and nose for goal could prove useful for Union, who secured an impressive 11th-place finish in their debut Bundesliga campaign in 2019/20, and will now be looking to avoid the dreaded 'second-season syndrome' many recently promoted sides suffer.

"With Max Kruse, we were able to sign a player who has proven his quality for years both nationally and internationally," said Union's sporting director Oliver Ruhnert. "With his offensive qualities and Bundesliga experience, he will help us achieve our goals in the new season."
