Mainz and Bayern Munich held a minute's silence on Saturday.

The DFL recommended a minute's silence for fixtures on the upcoming matchday of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 (20-22 October) to remember all innocent victims and their relatives after the devastating events in the Middle East.

The recommendation is made in coordination with the German Football Association, which is planning a similar approach for DFB-organised competitions such as the 3. Liga and the divisions of the Women's Bundesliga on the same weekend.

With this joint effort, the DFL and DFB would like to send a common message from German football for peace. Football is a sport that brings people together, which is why we all stand up for peaceful coexistence, respect and tolerance.

A fortnight ago, the terrorist attack by Hamas on the people of Israel and the State of Israel began. The DFL is shocked by this terrible attack and the events in the region.

Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen held a minute's silence ahead of their game.
