Bayern Munich midfielder and England youth international Jamal Musiala says his debut for Germany in their 3-0 win over Iceland was "something I dreamt of as a child."
Musiala entered the fray at MSV Duisburg's Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena with Germany already leading Iceland 3-0 in their FIFA World Cup Group J qualifier, replacing Chelsea's Kai Havertz with 11 minutes left to play.
It was the next step on a meteoric rise for the 18-year-old, who in recent weeks and months has become the youngest player to play and score for Bayern in the Bundesliga, as well as the youngest German and Englishman to find the target in the UEFA Champions League.

"It's a huge moment for me and also for my family. It's something I dreamt of when I was a child," said Musiala, who previously scored 10 goals in 23 youth international caps with England. "I was just looking forward to playing and I had a lot of fun. There's a lot to come but I'm very proud and my family too."
Goals from Leon Goretzka, Havertz and Ilkay Gündogan got Germany off to the perfect start in their qualification campaign. While Musiala showed some glimpses of his talent, Bayern clubmate Goretzka has a particular pet project with the player.
"What I've taken as a task and a challenge is Jamal Musiala," he explained on Bayern's official club podcast. "We all know what a huge potential he has with the ball. But up top he already gets pushed away a bit too easily here and there, that's a thorn in my side."
Once Musiala's physical capacity catches up with his technical, England's loss will very much be Germany's gain. Goretzka can be confident Musiala will heed his advice, too.
"I'm just happy to be here. It's great," Musiala explained. "I feel very proud to be here, with this great team. There are a lot of players that I already followed when I was younger. It's an honour for me and my family to be in this team. I'm happy to be here and the start into the qualifiers is great. It's very good."
