Oliver Glasner will join Eintracht Frankfurt as head coach, replacing Borussia Mönchengladbach-bound Adi Hütter in the role on a three-year deal.
Salzburg-born Glasner, 46, led Wolfsburg to a UEFA Champions League return in only his second season in Germany having arrived at the Volkswagen Arena from LASK in the summer of 2019.
"Glasner has proven in the last two years at Wolfsburg that he's capable of working at a top level and developing young players," said Frankfurt board spokesman Axel Hellmann. "In our situation with a high fluctuation of personnel around the team, we consciously went for a coach with Bundesliga and international experience.
"We quickly recognised that Glasner is the best fit for our team with his playing philosophy. We're convinced he'll continue the success he started at Wolfsburg in Frankfurt."
A former centre-back in his playing days, Glasner worked as an assistant coach at Red Bull Salzburg under former Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt and spent a year in charge of Ried, before moving to Linz in 2015.
He guided the club back to the top flight in 2017 and oversaw a fourth-placed finish in his third campaign at the helm.
"Eintracht Frankfurt is an exciting club and has undergone great development in recent years," Glasner said on signing with his new club. "The emotion in and around the city for Eintracht is great and also now known abroad after their great performances in the Europa League in recent years. We see the chance in Frankfurt to further develop a team on a strong level, and are looking forward to this great challenge."
