Borussia Dortmund's Paco Alcacer has overtaken Gerd Müller and Grafite as the striker with the best goals-per-minute ratio in Bundesliga history following his stunning Matchday 32 strike against Werder Bremen.

Alcacer scored his 18th Bundesliga goal of the season on Saturday, having played just 1,098 minutes. That's one goal every 61 minutes, spanning just 24 appearances!

The Spain international's goals-per-minute return is officially the best in the league’s history, beating the record set by Brazilian striker Grafite during Wolfsburg's 2008/09 title-winning campaign.

Watch: Paco Alcacer at his predatory best

Grafite took home the Torjägerkanone that year, with 28 goals across 2092 minutes and 25 appearances, at a rate of a goal every 74.7 minutes.

The Wolfsburg hero scored in all but seven appearances and his five goals in the final three games of the season helped him outgun the previous - and perennial - Bundesliga record holder, Müller.

Müller’s effort stood for 37 years, his remarkable 40-goal effort of 1971/72 looking unbeatable until first Grafite and now Alcacer came along.

Der Bomber’s haul came inside 3,060 minutes of football, with a goal every 76.5 minutes.

Thanks to his postage-stamp effort against Bremen, Alcacer has eclipsed both men as the most prolific minutes-to-goal frontman in a single Bundesliga season. He also holds the record for most single-season substitute goals (12).

Watch: Paco Alcacer's journey to the top

With the 2018/19 title in Bayern’s hands and Robert Lewandowski the league’s leading marksman on 22 goals, Alcacer could become the only man of the aforementioned duo to hold the record without taking home either the Bundesliga championship or top scorer's cannon.

It would be small consolation if Dortmund were to miss out, but a delicious cherry atop the cake should Alcacer fire BVB to the Meisterschale.
