Patrik Schick is hoping to rediscover his best form after moving to RB Leipzig on loan from AS Roma.

RB Leipzig have signed Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick on a season-long loan from Serie A club AS Roma, with Julian Nagelsmann's side also holding an option to make the move permanent.

Schick has scored 16 goals in 73 Serie A appearances in spells with Sampdoria and Roma, and seven in 17 senior outings at international level.

The 23-year-old, who can play as a right-sided forward, centre forward and second striker, will provide competition across Leipzig's front line for the likes of Timo Werner, Yussuf Poulsen and Emil Forsberg.

"I'm very happy to be a part of this great young team and I'm looking forward to my new challenge with the side," Schick told the Leipzig website after signing. "Obviously I've come here to help the team and to achieve our aims together. I'm delighted everything worked out in the end."

Despite his struggles at club level, the rangy Schick has had no troubles scoring for the Czech Republic.

Schick began his career at Sparta Prague, progressing through the U17 and U19 teams before making his senior debut in March 2014, aged 18. After two seasons on the fringes at Sparta, he spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at city rivals Bohemia, scoring seven goals in 27 Synot Liga outings.

Schick moved to Sampdoria in summer 2016 and was an instant hit, helping himself to 13 goals in 35 domestic appearances. The 6'2" forward joined Roma for a club-record fee a year later, finding the net eight times in 58 competitive games, while also making nine appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

"Patrik's a very athletic and technically gifted player who also has a great deal of international experience," said Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche. "He'll be a great addition to our attacking department and will give us greater variety."
