Wout Weghorst bagged his 14th Netherlands goal against Poland.

Hoffenheim loanee Wout Weghorst scored the decisive goal as the Netherlands beat Poland 2-1 in UEFA Euro 2024 Group D on Sunday.

Poland 1-2 Netherlands
Goals: 1-0 Buksa 16' (assist: Zieliński), 1-1 Gakpo 29' (assist: Aké), 1-2 Weghorst 83' (assist: Aké)

Poland lined up at Hamburg's Volkparkstadion without injured talisman and former Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, but that didn't stop them from taking the lead against the much-fancied Dutch, with Adam Buksa heading home Piotr Zieliński's corner. The Netherlands replied inside the half-hour, though. Nathan Aké did well to cushion a pass into Cody Gakpo's path, and the Liverpool man fired home from range, with the help of a deflection. Aké turned provider again inside the final 10 minutes when he slotted the ball through to Weghorst, and the Burnley-owned Hoffenheim man made no mistake from close range.
