Bayern Munich advanced to the second round of the DFB Cup thanks to a 4-0 win over third-division side Preußen Münster on Tuesday.
Münster 0-4 Bayern
Goals: 0-1 Choupo-Moting (8'), 0-2 Laimer 39' (assist: Goretzka), 0-3 Krätzig 45'+5 (assist: Kimmich), 0-4 Tel 86' (assist: Sarr)
Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel was forced to field a makeshift defence with centre-backs Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim all unavailable with injuries, so Leon Goretzka and Noussair Mazraoui stepped in to fill the void. It did little to interrupt their flow, however, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting bundling the ball over the line in the eighth minute after some fine wing play from Mathys Tel. Teenager Frans Krätzig had a header cleared off the line just seconds after entering the fray for the injured Serge Gnabry as Bayern continued to dominate. Daniel Peretz was called into action a couple of times on his debut for the defending Bundesliga champions, and made a good reflex stop to keep out Malik Batmaz's close-range attempt. Bayern's pressure eventually took its toll though, Konrad Laimer looping in a brilliant header into the net from Goretzka's pass before Krätzig turned the ball in at the near post from Joshua Kimmich's cross.
It remained largely one-way traffic after the interval as Bayern probed for more but they initially struggled to get behind their deep-lying hosts. A Kimmich shot from range that ballooned way over the bar was as good as it got for a while, until Choupo-Moting had an opening inside the six-yard box but couldn't get the ball out from under his feet quickly enough. Joel Grodowski broke free on the counter and forced another smart save from Peretz as the final whistle approached, but Bayern had the final say when Bouna Sarr's defence-splitting pass freed Tel to dart into the box and finish from a tight angle, sealing their place in the second round at the end of October.

As it happened!
Bayern cruise into the DFB Cup second round, thanks to goals from Choupo-Moting, Laimer, Krätzig and Tel. And it could so easily have been more.
Krätzig tries to dink a cute pass over a defender for Sané, but it's snuffed out. Supreme confidence from the youngster to even attempt that.
Into the first of THREE added minutes. It doesn't look like Kane will be getting a slice of the goal-scoring pie. He's still on the bench.
Bouchama replaces Kankam Kyerewaa in Münster's final change. The hosts have done a decent job of limiting the damage since the restart.
Krätzig kick-starts a Bayern break with a calm pass out from the back. It's two against four, with Coman weaving left and right before spanking an effort off the top of the crossbar from 18 yards.
Sarr splits the Münster defence with a superb through-ball for Tel. The angle's tight, but the French teenager makes it look easy with a superb drive through the legs of the goalkeeper. Like a knife through butter!
Gradowski, who's been really lively since joining the action in the second half, races away from the Bayern defence and stings the palms of Peretz. Either side of the Bayern debutant, and Münster might just have got on the scoresheet.
Musiala beats four players, before eventually losing out on the edge of the area. Choupo-Moting picks it up and feeds Tel, who cuts in and balloons high and wide of the Preußen goal.
Wegkamp's on for Lorenz as Münster chase the goal that would blow the roof off.
Lorenz's in-swinging corner is flicked on at the near post. A Münster player throws himself at the ball on the other side of the six-yard box, but can't make contact.
Sarr steers a precision pass into the feet of Choupo-Moting on the penalty spot, but the Bayern striker's first touch is heavy and Münster survive.
Coman cuts in off the right-hand side. He tries to find the far corner with a left-footed shot, but it's deflected behind. Fukui's ensuing delivery doesn't clear the first man.
Koulis with the effort for Münster, heading miles over from a corner. The home fans applaud the effort.
Coman feeds Sarr, who pulls a cross back for Musiala. He jinks away from a defender, but can't keep his shot on the run down.
Bayern debuts for Fukui and Guerreiro, as well as a rare outing for Sarr. Tuchel knows his team are home and hosed.
Preißinger replaces Mrowca in the Münster midfield with over 30 minutes plus stoppage time remaining.
Coman collects a ball from deep and goes round Schenk, but the angle is against him and a Münster man gets in the way. It's worked back into the box with Tel, who shoots across goal and wide.
Goretzka keeps the ball alive after Münster fail to clear a Kimmich corner. Choupo-Moting knocks it back to Tel, who curls a shot straight at Schenk from 18 yards.
The chase is on for Grodowski, but makeshift centre-back Goreztka is calmness personified as he steers the ball back to his goalkeeper.
Lorenz takes aim from a good 20 yards out, but can only drag his attempt wide.
Bayern get the ball rolling in Münster. Grodowski and Scherder are on for the hosts, but Bayern are unchanged. Will we see Harry Kane make his DFB Cup debut in the second half?
The 20-year-old scores his first competitive goal for Bayern. Musiala releases Kimmich, who asks the question with a cross into the six-yard box. Krätzig replies, touching it past Schenk, with the aid of a deflection.
Tel threads a pass through to Musiala, but he can't get it out from his feet and Schenk is able to smother.
There it is! Goretzka sprays a great ball over the top for the run of Laimer, who gets in-between two defenders to loop a header over Schenk.
Towering header by the Bayern man, but Schenk is equal to it!
Bayern are enjoying over 70 percent possession, stroking the ball around patiently, and you feel they haven't even got out of second gear.
Bayern are not letting up as Musiala tries to pick out Coman in the box. It's cleared only as far as Kimmich, who chips an inviting ball back into the area. Choupo-Moting controls under pressure, before Koch clears.
The Bayern scorer sticks out a boot to direct a low cross goalwards, but Schenk makes the block.
Musiala's at it again in the Münster box. He somehow manages to dig out a cross that's headed off the line, with Tel lurking.
Musiala with his trademark change of pace leaves the home defence in his wake. He dances into the box before taking aim, but his left-footed shot is too close to the diving Schenk.
Batz gets on the end of a ball into the Bayern box. His shot takes a deflection off Goretzka, forcing Peretz to parry and gather at the second attempt.
The Bayern No.7 can't continue after that earlier collision. Young left-back Krätzig, who made his Bundesliga debut at the weekend, is his replacement.
Bayern take a deserved lead in Münster. Tel drives up the left and sends in a cross that Coman can't get his foot around. Choupo-Moting can, the Cameroonian taking a touch and lashing home on the spin.
Peretz is unsighted initally as Lorenz swings in a cross, but the Bayern debutant makes his presence felt to claim the ball ahead of Mazraoui.
The Bayern winger goes to meet a Goretzka pass into the box. He colllides with Schenk in the process, and is in some discomfort.
As you'd expect, the Bundesliga champions are bossing possession in the early stages.
Bayern are in white, Münster in green-and-black stripes.
