"Lewy can score over 30 goals this season" - Süle

"Seven down, 23 more to go!" Niklas Süle (c.) hopes Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski (l.) can continue his fine scoring form throughout this season.

He may have turned 31 recently but Robert Lewandowski is sure to hit the 30-goal mark again according to Bayern Munich teammate Niklas Süle.

Lewandowski was on target once more against RB Leipzig on Matchday 4, racing onto Thomas Müller's through-ball before coolly slotting past Peter Gulacsi for the opener in a 1-1 draw.

That effort was his seventh in the Bundesliga in 2019/20 already, putting him top of the scoring chart, while he has eight from six competitive outings for Niko Kovac's side overall this term.

The Bayern No.9 is about more than just goals, though, with his all-round performance contributing to the team's impressive display. Lewandowski covered 6.6 miles, made 30 sprints (only Benjamin Pavard made more), had five attempts on goal and won 11 tackles over the course of the 90 minutes.

Indeed, the Polish forward's form recently prompted teammate Philippe Coutinho to say "he's even better up close than he is on TV" and now Süle has added his voice to the chorus of praise.

"I'd love it if he can keep going as he is," Süle said. "He's in great form and we need Lewy to be successful this season. I don't want to give any numbers, but if he continues at this rate, scoring in every game, then you can work it out for yourself that he'll get over 30 goals hopefully."

Lewandowski, who has finished as Bundesliga top scorer four times so far, has already reached that particular landmark twice in the past, hitting 30 in both the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons, while he got 29 in 2017/18 and 22 last season.

While he may not quite sustain his current rate of a goal every 51.4 mins - equivalent to a haul of 60 over the course of the season - one thing is for sure: Lewandowski has seldom been in better scoring form. That spells trouble for the rest of the competition, starting with Cologne on Matchday 5.
