Robert Lewandowski has overtaken Schalke legend Klaus Fisher as the second-highest scorer in Bundesliga history after taking his tally to 271 goals in Bayern Munich's Matchday 26 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Lewandowski now has 35 for the season thanks to his first-half treble in a 4-0 triumph over Stuttgart.

Bayern great Gerd Müller will continue to lead the overall standings for some time yet with his 365 Bundesliga strikes, but Lewandowski does have his cohort's single-season record of 40 goals in his sights.

Müller - a seven-time Torjägerkanone winner - hit 40 as Bayern won the league in 1971/272. Lewandowski has averaged a goal every 60 minutes this season. With eight games left after this weekend, he is on course to end up closer to 45 goals for the campaign.
