Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller has named Germany international defender Robin Koch as the club's new captain for the 2025/26 season, with goalkeeper Kevin Trapp discussing a possible transfer away from the club.
The announcement was made prior to Frankfurt's DFB Cup first-round meeting with Engers, with the club later confirming the news that Trapp is heading for the exit.
Speaking about the change in captaincy, Toppmöller said: "Robin is a real pillar of our team and leader. He is one of the first players on the team sheet and takes a central role on the pitch, making him an ideal captain."
Koch has already worn the armband 16 times for the Eagles and added: "Being captain of Eintracht Frankfurt is a great and special honour."
Watch: The best of Robin Koch
Goalkeeper Trapp was first appointed Frankfurt captain as long ago as 2014 in his first spell at the club before a move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2015 was followed by a return to the Eagles in 2018.
After 293 Bundesliga appearances, he is now set to depart Frankfurt.
