After a prolific and title-laden spell at Liverpool, Sadio Mane has joined Bayern Munich, where he was officially unveiled on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Liverpool forward Sadio Mane on a three-year deal.

Mane, 30, had been a revelation at Liverpool since joining from Southampton in 2016, registering 120 goals and 48 assists in 269 competitive appearances. He also had a hand in five goals as Senegal won the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in February.

"I'm really happy to finally be at FC Bayern in Munich," Mane told the club website. "We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts.

"It's the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club - in Europe too. During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games - I really like this club!"

Mane, who was entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, was Liverpool's second highest scorer in 2021/22 behind Mohamed Salah. He scored 23 goals in 51 appearances as the Reds won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, whilst finishing just a point behind English Premier League champions Manchester City and as UEFA Champions League runners-up to Real Madrid.

Mane also helped Liverpool end their 30-year wait for a league title in 2019/20, a year after top scoring in the Premier League and winning the 2018/19 Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup. The 89-time Senegal international previously won back-to-back domestic doubles with Salzburg in Austria, where he contributed 45 goals and 32 assists in 75 appearances. The 2019 African Player of the Year moved to Liverpool via a stint at Southampton that totalled 25 goals and 14 assists in 75 games.

"Sadio Mane is a global star, who underlines the appeal of FC Bayern and will increase the attractiveness of the Bundesliga as a whole," said Bayern president Herbert Hainer. "Fans come to the stadiums to see such players."

Mane typically lines up as an inverted left winger, but can also play on the right or through the middle. He adds to Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann's wealth of world-class attacking options, taking his place alongside Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala.

"With his outstanding performances and his great successes at the highest international level over many years, there are very few players like him in the world," said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn. "He's ambitious and eager to win more titles... with players like him at FC Bayern, all the biggest goals are possible."
