Samuel Mbangula is set to light up the Weser Stadium after joining Werder Bremen from Juventus. Get the career skinny on the Belgian winger below...
1) Juve and Belgium's youngest
In 2024/25, Mbangula enjoyed a breakout senior season at Juventus and even netted a UEFA Champions League play-off first-leg winner against PSV Eindhoven to help his side to a 2-1 victory in Turin - though the Italian giants would eventually bow out of the tournament after defeat in the return game.
In scoring that goal, Mbangula became - at 21 years and 26 days - both Juve's and Belgium's youngest-ever scorer in the knockout phase of European club football's elite competition. "I'm very happy; it's a very important win and I'm thrilled to have scored the decisive goal," he told uefa.com after the first leg.
2) Dream debut
Prior to his Champions League exploits, Mbangula enjoyed a sensational senior debut for the Old Lady on Matchday 1 of the 2024/25 Serie A season.
Picking up possession in his favoured left position during his side's game against Como, the Belgian paced down the flank before cutting inside and sending a targeted, right-footed finish to the far corner to the delight of former Juve coach Thiago Motta and the Juventus faithful in Turin.
The Bianconeri went on to win the game 3-0 to enjoy the perfect start to the campaign. "It would surprise anyone to have a debut like I did," Mbangula commented after the game. "My life has changed."
3) Belgian start
Born in Brussels of Congolese descent, Mbangula began his footballing life in the youth teams of local sides Léopold and Molenbeek Brussels Strombeek.
A step-up to Club Brugge followed for the talented attacker and he would progress through the club's youth sides before joining Anderlecht's academy in 2019.
The following year, Juventus made their move, taking Mbangula into their academy before eventually promoting the attacker to the B team.
4) International quality
Although yet to make his senior bow for Belgium, Mbangula was called up to the seniors for the UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Israel in November 2024.
He is already a mainstay with Belgium's U21s, for whom he has now played eight times while he has represented his country at every stage from U15 level.
5) Team player
Mbangula admitted he learned a lot during his time at Juventus, not least "about the fighting spirit, which I may not have had before," he told Serie A's official channel.
His words since paint a picture of a team player who is set to give his all for new side Werder. "When you're a team and you all have the same goal, when you know where you are heading with the coach and the team, even if you stumble once or twice, you pick yourselves up and chase your shared objectives," he explained.
"[Every player] has individual qualities and if you put them all together for the good of the team, then you can succeed."
