Musiala breaks the deadlock

The match began with Bayern asserting their dominance in possession, but struggling to break down a resolute St. Pauli defence. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Musiala produced a moment of magic. The young Germany international won the ball about 35 yards from goal, took a touch, and unleashed a powerful strike that flew past Nikola Vasilj and in off the crossbar. The effort, left the St. Pauli goalkeeper with no chance and gave Bayern the lead in a game in which they had struggled to create clear-cut chances.

St. Pauli's resilience tested

Despite falling behind, Pauli showed admirable resilience. Alexander Blessin's side maintained their compact defensive shape, making it difficult for Bayern to create anything noteworthy. The home team's first shot of the match came in the 29th minute when Karol Mets volleyed over the bar from a promising position. As the half progressed, Bayern continued to dominate possession but found it challenging to break through Pauli's well-organised defence. Leroy Sané had a chance in the 41st minute, but his effort was blocked.

Bayern control without comfort

The second half saw Bayern maintain their control of the match, but they struggled to extend their lead. Sané was the most threatening, forcing Vasilj into several saves. Harry Kane, who had been quiet for much of the game, had a golden opportunity in the 89th minute but was denied by Vasilj. While they were in the game throughout, Pauli couldn't muster a shot on target throughout the match, highlighting Bayern's defensive solidity. The match ended with Bayern navigating some late home pressure to pick up the victory.
