Serhou Guirassy scored again as VfB Stuttgart reached the DFB Cup quarter-finals with victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Stuttgart 2-0 Dortmund
Goals: 1-0 Guirassy 54' (assist: Millot), 2-0 Silas 77' (assist: Mittelstädt)
Beaten by Stuttgart in the Bundesliga a few weeks ago, Dortmund went closest to scoring via a Marcel Sabitzer shot that cannoned off the bar, but the visitors - third in the current Bundesliga standings - were otherwise the better side in an entertaining first half. Sebastian Hoeneß's charges created plenty of openings, with the in-form Deniz Undav spurning three presentable openings, and Gregor Kobel denying Atakan Karazor.
Emre Can blocked from Guirassy soon after the restart, but the Guinean made his next chance stick with a fine finish through Kobel's legs. Kobel pulled off a sensational stop from Enzo Millot, before Jamie Bynoe-Gittens had an effort ruled out for offside at the other end. After Guirassy and Mats Hummels missed with headed chances, substitute Silas capped a wonderful move with a superb outside-of-the-boot finish for 2-0. BVB prevented further goals as they chased the game, but there was no stopping VfB reaching the last eight.

As it happened!
Yet another breach of the BVB rearguard, this time with Stergiou sprinting down the right. The ball is bouncing and won't sit kindly for him though, allowing Bensebaini si get back and produce a fine sliding tackle to clear.
The hosts are tearing Dortmund apart seemingly at will here. Guirassy sprints into the box down the left, drawing both Hummels and Schlotterbeck to him. He tries to cross into the middle for the onrushing Silas, but Schlotterbeck is able to block what would surely have been a third goal.
Silas bursts forward, his pace too much for the Dortmund defence. He slides it to his right for Guirassy, who could shoot but opts to cut back and find a team-mate. He raises his arms in desperation as there's nobody near him. Eventually VfB recycle possession and Stiller has a chance to shoot from the edge of the box, but he scuffs his effort well wide.
Such slick play from Stuttgart, who have been absolutely brilliant all game. Millot, under pressure from an opponent, feeds a lovely ball through to Mittelstädt, who charges forward to the edge of the box, poking the ball through a defender's legs for Silas to run on to. The substitute flicks it past Kobel with the outside of his boot and it rolls into the far corner. Sensational stuff!
Hummels connects with Adeyemi's free-kick from the left, but his header is straight at Nübel.
Führich releases Mittelstädt down the left and his cross from out wide is inch-perfect for Guirassy, lurking unmarked inside the box, about eight-yards out. He makes a clean connection but can only direct it straight at Kobel! What a chance that was!
Bynoe-Gittens taps the ball into an empty net following a pass from Füllkrug and it looks like BVB have equalised. However, after a VAR review it won't count because the English teenager was marginally offside when Füllkrug played the ball to him.
Immediately following that chance for Stuttgart, Dortmund break up the other end of the pitch and the ball is worked to Bynoe-Gittens. He's on the edge of the box and shoots, but it's not powerful enough to beat Nübel.
Guirassy tries to return the favour for MIllot with a brilliant pass, scooped behind the defence. It looks certain to be 2-0, but Kobel denies Millot with another outstanding save!
it has been coming and Stuttgart now have a deserved lead! Some neat build-up play from the back culminates in Millot, on the edge of the box, flicking the ball through for Guirassy. He still has plenty to do, but manages to drill a low shot through Kobel's legs and into the net!
Another clear-cut opportunity for Stuttgart as Dortmund again lose the ball in midfield. Guirassy shoots from eight yards out but Kobel makes himself big, smothers the ball and makes another vital save.
The Germany international receives the ball on the left. He skips past Ryerson and smashes an inviting ball across the face of goal. It only needs a touch to go in but there's nobody there to finish!
Hummels loses the ball in midfield and VfB immediately pounce. The ball is played into the right-hand channel for Guirassy, who gets a shot away but it's blocked by a superb slide tackle from Can.
The home side get the ball rolling again. Dortmund make two changes at the interval, with Brandt coming on for Sabitzer in midfield, presumably to add a touch more creativity. Bensebaini is also on for Wolf, who picked up an injury in the first half. Ryerson will switch over to right-back, with Bensebaini on the left.
Führich picks Wolf's pocket on the Stuttgart left and drives forward. He cuts the ball back to the edge of the area and it's Karazor arriving, but his side-footed shot lacks both the precision and the power to beat Kobel, who makes a save low to his right.
Bynoe-Gittens takes a heavy touch following a pass from Kobel, allowing Undav to nick the ball off his toe. He drives forward into the box and has two team-mates to his right, but he opts to shoot instead and fires off target.
A teasing, inviting cross from the left from Mitelstädt. It finds Undav in the middle, having ghosted away from his marker, but at full stretch he can't make a clean connection with the ball, 12 yards out, and it bounces wide.
Füllkrug nods down a cross from the right to Adeyemi. He takes a touch to control the ball and get a shot away, but it's charged down by a defender. Özcan arrives on the edge of the box on the follow-up, but he shanks it high over the bar.
Wolf is back on the pitch and moving gingerly. He looks like he'll be ok to continue though.
The wing-back is receiving treatment after slipping while challenging Stiller for the ball.
Nice pressing from Dortmund, with Özcan spreading the ball out to the right to Wolf. He tries to pick out Füllkrug in the middle but his cross is far too strong and it sails out of play.
Führich floats a cross in from the left. Udav heads it goalwards, but Kobel dives down to his right to make a brilliant save!
The 19-year-old doesn't look like he'll be able to continue after picking up an injury. Füllkrug is getting ready to come on.
Adeyemi breaks forward at pace down the right. The ball is eventually worked back to Sabitzer, who shoots left-footed from the edge of the box. It beats Nübel but crashes off the bar and flies clear.
Emre Can is dropping in at centre-back alongside Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck whenever Stuttgart get forward, while Marius Wolf and Julian Ryerson occupy the full-back positions. It's a compliment of sorts for Stuttgart, with the visitors clearly wary of their attacking threat.
A Stuttgart attack breaks down, giving Dortmund a chance to counter via the pace of Adeyemi. He's got plenty of space to run into, but Zagadou nudges him off the ball as he deals with with the situation expertly.
Stuttgart play some eye-catching one-touch football on the edge of the Dortmund area, trying to create a shooting chance. They can't quite manage it though, and a desperate Dortmund defence hooks it clear.
Anything Bynoe-Gittens can do... Mittelstädt can too. The VfB defender scampers down the right, rides two tackles and crosses, but it's just too strong for Millot arriving at the back post.
Quick feet from the English youngster to skip past a couple of tackles in midfield, but he hangs on tho the ball a bit to long and is dispossessed.
Dortmund are a bit sloppy as they play out from the back and all of a sudden Guirassy has the ball on the edge of the area. It gets stuck under his feet a bit though, and the visitors regroup to clear.
Dortmund get us under way!
The players are lined up alongside each other, just awaiting the referee's signal to head out to the pitch.
Josha Vagnoman and Angelo Stiller are the two new faces in the side following VfB's win over Bremen at the weekend. Pascal Stenzel and Silas make way and are among the substitutes.
Dortmund coach Edin Terzić has made three changes to his side following the 1-1 draw with Leverkusen at the weekend. Salih Özcan, Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko all start, with heavyweights Julian Brandt, Marco Reus and Niclas Füllkrug afforded a breather on the bench.
