Frankfurt celebrating again after win in Stuttgart

Eintracht Frankfurt produced another solid performance on the road this week as they saw off Stuttgart thanks to goals from Sebastian Rode, Daichi Kamada and Kristijan Jakic.

Stuttgart 1-3 Frankfurt
Goals: 0-1 Rode 6', 0-2 Kamada 55', 1-2 Tomas 79' (assist: Sosa) , 1-3 Jakic 88' (assist: Kamada)

Fresh from celebrating their first-ever win in the UEFA Champions League at Marseille, Eintracht quickly went in search of a third Bundesliga triumph. Jesper Lindstrom was the match winner in France, but with the Dane missing out through illness, visiting coach Oliver Glasner brought Rode into the side. After just six minutes, it was the experienced midfielder who pounced to head in the opener, after Stuttgart keeper Florian Müller could only fist Kamada's dipping free-kick back into the danger zone. Stuttgart came into this one on the back of their own impressive result, holding Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw on Matchday 6. Chris Führich was on target in that encounter and the 24-year-old threatened again here, cutting in from the right before drawing a reflex save from Kevin Trapp. The chance lifted the hosts and they went close again soon afterwards, when Atakan Karazor headed Führich's corner onto the roof of the net.

Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo had praised Eintracht's "attacking potency and strength" in the build-up, yet it was his side that began the second half displaying those qualities, as they went in search of a first Bundesliga victory this season. The always lively Silas was the focal point of much of VfB's build-up play, and he almost picked out teammate Serhou Guirassy with a flicked square pass that Trapp was alive to. Frankfurt's set-piece problems, meanwhile, had been well signposted, with Die Adler conceding three times from dead ball situations this season. By the 55th minute, however, the Europa League champions were two goals to the good via a couple of set pieces of their own. Kamada's free-kick on the edge of the area might have been covered by Müller in the Stuttgart goal, but a deflection off Waldemar Anton left the home goalkeeper in two minds at the worst possible moment. Substitute Rafael Borre's subsequent miss allowed Tiago Tomas to keep the contest alive with a deflected shot that gave Trapp no chance for 2-1, but when Jakic headed in a Kamada corner, it was game over.
