The siege continued as Xaver Schlager struck a post from distance and Werner went within a whisker of turning in a Silva cross. Emil Forsberg played the final ball as Werner completed his hat-trick with aplomb.
The cat-and-mouse games continued into the second half as David Raum and Forsberg were denied a slice of the goal-scoring pie by Teutonia goalkeeper Yannick Zummack. Normal service was resumed when Silva showed a great piece of control from Dominik Szoboszlai and turn Tjorben Uphoff, before slotting in his second of the contest. Szoboszlai conjured up Leipzig's next goal within three minutes, the Hungarian's cross finding Forsberg for a deft back-heel from inside the six-yard area.
