Thomas Müller believes Bayern Munich's 8-2 demolition of Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals trumps Germany's 7-1 win over Brazil in the 2014 FIFA World Cup last four.
Müller scored twice in Lisbon as Bayern became the first team in Champions League history to register eight goals in a single knockout match.
The 30-year-old also opened the scoring when Germany thumped hosts Brazil on a similarly unforgettable night in Belo Horizonte, before going on to beat Lionel Messi's Argentina in the final.
bundesliga.com rounds up the reaction to yet another emphatic Champions League triumph for Germany's record champions...
Thomas Müller (Bayern forward): "In the win in Brazil, we didn't have the same amount of control. Yes, we were good, but tonight the way we dominated the game was ruthless. It was a special night. We wanted to overwhelm them from the start, just like we have been doing in recent months. Obviously you can never shut off against a team like Barca, but we were dominant, especially off the ball. It's a big statement, but it's the way we played as a team that really makes me happy."
Manuel Neuer (Bayern goalkeeper & captain): "We were relentless. We continued to attack. Obviously Barcelona are strong in attack and can score goals, but we kept going and didn't let up. We wanted to score goals, and succeeded."
Joshua Kimmich (Bayern right-back/ midfielder): "We were rampant. Winning 8-2 against Barcelona is unimaginable. Our focus was ruthless from the start. We were unlucky to concede the equaliser for 1-1, but I didn't sense much uncertainty. You could sense how much we wanted to win. We played with a real purpose, and were very bold with our high line. It's an incredible result. It was clear the Barca players' heads dropped after the fifth goal. They stopped believing, but we just kept on looking for goals. We were cool and calm on the ball, but there's still a way to go."
Leon Goretzka (Bayern midfielder): "It was definitely something special. We'll appreciate that more in the coming days. We played well: we got in their faces from the start. That's how we set out to play. We knew it wouldn't be easy against such top-level individuals, but we stood up to the task. An early goal is always a boost, and we showed our morale after conceding the equaliser. We didn't let it knock us off our stride - we just kept going. The way we pressed was relentless. It was a procession in the end; Barcelona had given up. The confidence is there, and certainly isn't any worse off after tonight. It's the first step of three. The next game is back to 0-0."
Hansi Flick (Bayern head coach): "Hats off to the team. The way they maintained such a high intensity over 90 minutes was sensational. That's our mentality, it's what we're all about. We knew we'd force the errors if we put them under pressure. We wanted to exploit that, and it couldn't have worked out better. We had to play with real intensity because of Barcelona's quality in attack. The defence had to work really hard, but they did brilliantly. We're delighted that our performance was rewarded - and with such a big win at that. What really pleases me is how the players that come in slot in so seamlessly and deliver. That shows our team spirit. Now we need to regenerate and focus on the next game."
Hasan Salihamidzic (Bayern sporting director): "The lads went for it from the start. It was an insane first half. We put them under constant pressure, moved the ball about in midfield and were always a threat. It was a pleasure to watch. We're all so focused right now, and want to continue in this way. We're thrilled, but we want more."
