Müller makes history with yet another title
Former Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has claimed the 35th trophy of his illustrious career by helping his new club Vancouver Whitecaps to the Canadian Championship, thereby becoming the outright most decorated German football player in history.
Müller scored a 10th-minute penalty to set the Whitecaps on the way to a 4-2 win over Vancouver FC in the final.
It was the fourth consecutive Canadian Championship for the side that the former Germany international joined in August, and who also play in US Major League Soccer.
The win qualifies Müller and the Whitecaps for next season's CONCACAF Champions League.
Last season's Bundesliga title with Bayern saw Müller tie with Toni Kroos for the joint-most trophies won by a German player on 34, but he has now gone one better to set a new standalone record.
Müller said after the win: “Today I feel more about winning the Canadian Championship and not my personal collection of trophies. It's a nice number, but in the end, it's the feeling with the boys and the crowds that I'm looking for and what's enjoyable for me.”

Müller also holds the record for the most Bundesliga titles for an individual player with 13.
