Bundesliga
Karim Adeyemi and Alphonso Davies left many a Bundesliga player in their wake in 2022/23, but where exactly did they rank among the league’s fastest players across the season? bundesliga.com has the final rankings…
1) Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund, 22.80mph/ 36.7km/h)
Not only was Borussia Dortmund forward Adeyemi the fastest man in the 2022/23 season, his top speed shattered the previous quickest in the league since such data was collected (2011/12). He may not have been so quick in finding his feet – going the first 11 games without contributing to a goal – but the 2022/23 Bundesliga Rookie of the Season exploded into action after the winter break, scoring six and setting up a further five in the 13 fixtures of 2023.

2) Sheraldo Becker (Union Berlin, 22.74mph/ 36.6km/h)
Becker’s pace is no secret, but even he exceeded himself this term. His top speed set a new club record in what was a historic season for Union, culminating in a first ever qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Furthermore, with a total of 1113 sprints, only Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong bettered him for brief bursts of pace.

3) Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich, 22.68mph/ 36.5km/h)
The roadrunner raised his own game in 2022/23, setting a new speed record for a Bayern Munich player and beating his previous best. The Canadian named CONCACAF Player of the Year for 2022 - averaged 34 sprints per 90 minutes – more than any of his teammates – and did justice to the nickname given to him by teammate Thomas Müller. Meep Meep!
4) Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen, 22.68mph/ 36.5km/h)
Another record-breaker was Diaby, who became the fastest Leverkusen player in history. Yet that is not all. The Frenchman was the team’s top-scorer this season, with nine goals, and he provided more assists (eight) than any other member of Die Werkself, scoring four of Leverkusen’s league-leading 10 goals from counterattacks.

5) Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich, 22.55mph/36.3km/h)
It could be said that Sane saved the best until last, with his top speed recorded on the final day of the season in the 2-1 win over Cologne which saw Bayern clinch the title in dramatic fashion. The personal best pace saw him move into the top five, with him breaking the 36km/h mark for the first time in his career.
