Who are Germany’s potential quarter-final opponents?
Germany have reached the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League after topping Group A3. Who can Julian Nagelsmann’s men now face for a place in next June’s finals tournament?
Germany ensured they would claim first place in their section with a resounding 7-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the penultimate group game, also progressing beyond the Nations League group stage for the first time in four editions. They closed out the group stage with a 1-1 draw away to Hungary to finish unbeaten.

The draw for the quarter-finals, which has been introduced in the Nations League for the first time in the 2024/25 edition, will take place on Friday 22 November at 12pm CET at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
It will be one of four draws that take place on the day, after selecting the pairings for the League C/D play-offs, the League B/C play-offs and the League A/B play-offs that will determine promotion or relegation between leagues.
The League A knockout stage draw then determines the four quarter-final ties between the League A group winners and runners-up, as well as the pairings for the semi-finals next June.
The winners of the four groups will be seeded, giving them home advantage in the second leg. They will then be paired with one of the four runners-up, but cannot be drawn against the country they already faced in their group. It means each team has three possible opponents.
Group winners teams:
Portugal, France, Germany, Spain
Group runners-up:
Croatia, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark
Since Germany topped Group A3 ahead of the Netherlands, the old rivals cannot be drawn against each other in the quarter-finals. It leaves Croatia, Italy and Denmark as the possible opponents for the four-time world champions.
The two legs are scheduled to be played on 20 and 23 March 2025.
For the semi-final draw, another pot is prepared, containing four placeholders that represent the quarter-final winners. The placeholder drawn first will be the home team of the first semi-final. The second team drawn will be the home team of the other semi-final. The placeholder drawn in third position will be the away team of the first pairing, and the last placeholder drawn completes the remaining pairing.
The League A semi-finals are set to take place on 4 and 5 June, with the match for third place and final to follow on Sunday 8 June. The host nation for the finals tournament will be determined once the four semi-finalists are known.
