Union stun Dortmund despite Moukoko history-maker

Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko became the Bundesliga's youngest scorer but his historic strike was in vain as BVB were beaten 2-1 at Union Berlin on Friday.

Union Berlin 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
Goals: 1-0 Awoniyi (57'), 1-1 Moukoko (60'), 2-1 Friedrich (78')

Union had beaten Dortmund in the capital last season to claim their maiden Bundesliga victory, and held Bayern Munich in their previous home outing, so the visitors had been warned they would be in for a tough night. Edin Terzic's men had given their new boss victory in his first game in charge by beating Werder Bremen in midweek, and had Jadon Sancho not finished tamely after being teed up by Moukoko early on, they might have had a chance of following that up with another. Moukoko - leading the line again in the absence of Erling Haaland - was the visitors most potent threat, firing just wide and even hitting a post with the last kick of the first half.

The youngster - featuring in only his third top-flight game - saw Cedric Teuchert stretch Roman Bürki early in the second half and then watched, as did most of a static Dortmund defence, as Taiwo Awoniyi headed home from close range after Christopher Trimmel's corner had been flicked on. Three minutes later, Moukoko swivelled to smash a Raphael Guerreiro through ball past Andreas Luthe and make Bundesliga history at the age of 16 years and 28 days. Dortmund though had not learned their lesson, and Marvin Friedrich was given enough space to meet another Trimmel corner and head past Bürki - with the ball flicking in off a post - to give Union a first win in five league games and lift them into fifth place, just a point behind their opponents.
