Joe Scally has signed a one-year contract extension with Borussia Mönchengladbach, tying the USMNT full-back to the club until 30 June 2027.
Scally has made 61 competitive appearances for Gladbach, having joined the club from New York City FC upon turning 18 on 31 December 2020. The 20-year-old's previous deal ran through to summer 2026.
"The most important thing for me is to be playing regularly," Scally said. "Borussia give me the chance to do that and help my development as a player. The club presented me with a clear plan regarding my future during our conversations. I'm happy to be staying at Borussia."
After officially joining Gladbach in January 2021, Scally spent the second half of the 2020/21 season with the reserve side, but became a first-team regular the following campaign. He made his Gladbach debut in the DFB Cup opening round and his Bundesliga bow against Bayern Munich, before scoring his first German top-flight goal in October 2021. To date, he's made 56 Bundesliga appearances, whilst winning four senior caps for the US national team.

"Joe has developed really well with us," enthused Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus. "He quickly made the transition from being a talented youngster in our U23s to a regular for the first team, and even made the US World Cup squad. This is a great example of the journey we want our promising youngsters signed from other clubs to take. This contract extension acknowledges his development, which we want to continue supporting in the future."
