Bayer Leverkusen and Nigeria striker Victor Boniface has moved to Werder Bremen on a season-long loan.
Boniface has scored 32 goals and produced 12 assists in 61 competitive appearances since joining Leverkusen from Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2023.
The 24-year-old helped Die Werkself win a 2023/24 Bundesliga-DFB Cup double, as well as the 2024 Supercup, but fell behind Patrik Schick in the pecking order last season, making just 16 starts.
"We currently have three strikers for one position in Patrik Schick, Christian Kofane and Victor Boniface. That's why it was in Victor's and our interest to find a good solution here," explained Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.
"Hopefully, Boni can make a fresh start at Werder at the top level and prove his class."

Boniface's move represents a much-needed boost for Bremen, who sold talisman Marvin Ducksch to Birmingham City earlier in the summer.
The Green-Whites are also searching for their first win of the new season. After being knocked out of the DFB Cup in the first round by Bundesliga 2's Arminia Bielefeld, Horst Steffen's side lost their Bundesliga opener 4-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt before salvaging a 3-3 draw with Leverkusen prior to the September international break.
"Victor is physically very strong, is a very good finisher is quick. He excelled as a goalscorer and playmaker during Bayer's championship season. I am sure that he can be a very important factor for our team this term," Werder's head coach said.
Bremen return to action with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on 14 September.
