Vincent Kompany has signed a new contract to remain head coach at Bayern Munich until summer 2029, extending his original deal that was set to run until 2027.
Kompany took over Bayern in summer 2024 and guided them to Bundesliga glory in his first season, winning the title back off Bayer Leverkusen.
He then picked up more silverware this August with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.

Over his 67 competitive matches at the helm, the 39-year-old former defender has won 49 (nine draws, nine defeats). His record in the Bundesliga reads 32 wins, seven draws and only two defeats across 41 matches, which works out at 2.51 points per game. Only Pep Guardiola boasts a better return in the league’s history (2.52).
“I’m delighted about this extension,” said Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl. “When we signed Vinny, we had a clear imagination of our path together, and he’s quickly proved that he’s taking Bayern forward both on and off the pitch.
“He’s a figure of identification who unites the players, the fans and everyone at the club. And we want to create something long term with him.”
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen added: “Vincent has brought the fun back to Bayern. A real team has grown under his leadership that plays dominant and attractive football.”
The Belgian has led Bayern to the best start in Bundesliga history this term, winning the opening seven games with a goal difference of +23.
Last weekend’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker also saw the Bavarians equal BVB’s German record of winning their opening 12 competitive fixtures of a season.

“I’m grateful, feel honoured and want to thank Bayern for their confidence and the working environment that they’ve offered me from day one,” Kompany stated.
“It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer and that I know the club well. It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and enjoy plenty more success.”
Bayern have the chance to make it 13 wins from as many fixtures in 2025/26 when they host Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
They then put their perfect Bundesliga status on the line with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, holding a five-point lead over RB Leipzig at the summit.
