Werder Bremen have bolstered their ranks with the signing of exciting Belgium U21 international winger Samuel Mbangula from Juventus.
A left-sided attacker who is equally comfortable playing on the opposite flank or even as a second striker, Mbangula was schooled at Club Brugge before moving to the Juventus youth set-up in 2022.
The 21-year-old made a goalscoring Serie A debut on the first day of the 2024/25 campaign and went on to feature in 32 games across all competitions for the Old Lady, scoring four times and providing four assists.
“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge," Mbangula told the official Bremen website. "The discussions with the club officials and the coach convinced me of Werder and the plan being followed here. I’m excited to get to know my teammates at the training camp now and hope I can contribute my qualities right away.”
Having impressed with Belgium's various youth teams down through the years, Mbangula made his U21 debut in October 2023 and went on to earn eight caps at that level.
He was called up to the Red Devils' senior side for a series of UEFA Nations League games in November 2024, but he has as yet to make his senior bow for his country.
"Samuel brings good pace," said new Bremen head coach Horst Steffen. "He is technically and tactically very well trained, can play in several attacking positions, and will make our game more flexible as a result. The key now is to integrate him into the team as quickly as possible."
Werder begin their 2025/26 Bundesliga challenge under Steffen with a Matchday 1 game away to Eintracht Frankfurt on 23 August.
