Robert Lewandowski claimed his third successive Bundesliga top scorer's prize as champions Bayern Munich thrashed Wolfsburg, who were made to settle for a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.

Even with the title wrapped up and midfield general Joshua Kimmich among the substitutes, Bayern attacked with some serious pizzazz in the first half. The opening goal fell inside four minutes as Thomas Müller released Kingsley Coman, who made no mistake with his finish across the advancing Koen Casteels. Wolfsburg responded through Wout Weghorst and Josip Brekalo, but Manuel Neuer was equal to both efforts. Casteels was forced into evasive action following another break-neck Bayern foray, with Serge Gnabry's cross-shot almost catching out the Belgium international at his near post. Coman missed a veritable sitter after more good work from Gnabry, before Michael Cuisance swept in a stunning postage-stamp effort from fully 20 yards to give Hansi Flick's men a 2-0 lead. The Wolves did put the ball in the net late in the half via Alvaro Odriozola, but the goal was ruled out for Daniel Ginczek's meaty aerial challenge on the unwitting Real Madrid loanee.
Bayern turned the screw after the restart as Casteels thwarted Coman, with Gnabry driving wide on the follow-up. Müller sent Gnabry through on goal soon after, but again Wolfsburg's last line of defence stood up to the task, saving with his toe. Lewandowski was next to meet the Wolfsburg custodian's resistance, before having a goal ruled out for a fractional offside. He was not to be denied his 34th league goal of the season, though. After Joshua Guilavogui received his second caution for upending Cuisance in the box, Lewandowski made no mistake with the ensuing penalty kick. Müller added a fourth when Wolfsburg substitute Robin Knoche failed to deal fully with Alphonso Davies' left-wing cross as Bayern posted their 16th competitive win in a row ahead of next weekend's DFB Cup final with Bayer Leverkusen. Wolfsburg, sixth at the start of play, end the campaign in seventh following Hoffenheim's 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund, and enter the Europa League at the second qualifying round.
