Wolfsburg striker Lukas Nmecha has earned his first call-up for Germany ahead of their final 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Armenia this month.
Nmecha scored the winning goal in the UEFA Euro U21 final this summer, and he has now been rewarded by senior national team head coach Hansi Flick after impressing since his return to Wolfsburg.
The 22-year-old, who starred for Anderlecht in Belgium on loan from Manchester City last season, has caught the eye after joining the Wolves on a permanent deal in July.
Nmecha netted in his team's wins over Hertha Berlin, Greuther Fürth and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, while he has also struck twice in the UEFA Champions League group stage. He smashed home his second goal in Europe this season during Wolfsburg's crucial 2-1 home victory over Salzburg on 2 November.

There have however been recalls for Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt, Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, Freiburg left-back Christian Günter, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan and Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler.
Nine-in-row Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have eight players in the 27-man squad, including captain Manuel Neuer and in-form attackers Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller and Leroy Sane.
Germany have already booked their place at next year’s World Cup in Qatar after chalking up seven wins in eight matches so far to top Group J. They became the first country to qualify after winning 4-0 away to North Macedonia in October.
